# First live poll in under a minute

> Create an account, add a poll, and go live. The room answers from a phone. PowerPoint is optional if you want results on the current slide.

T-minus one minute. This is the path from a new account to a live room. You do not rebuild the presentation in Askplane.

  <Step title="Create your free account">
    Go to [askplane.com/register](https://www.askplane.com/register) with your work email. No credit card. Free is live immediately.

  <Step title="Create an event">
    Open [askplane.com/admin](https://www.askplane.com/admin) and click **New event**. Name it. Optionally set an organization name so results wear that logo and palette.

  <Step title="Add a poll">
    Click **Add poll**. **Choice** is the fastest first question. Write the prompt and at least two options.

  <Step title="Go live and share the code">
    Start the session from the event in the app. A five-character code appears. Say it out loud. Attendees follow [how to join](/joining-a-session): askplane.com, the code, name, and work email. About ten seconds. No app.

  <Step title="Open the poll">
    Open the poll. Votes land on their phones and on your host view. Close it when you want to talk.

  <Step title="Export before the room empties">
    In the event, **Export CSV**. You get names, work emails, votes, and Q\&A.

## Stay in the file (optional)

The app is enough to run the room. To keep results on the current slide:

1. Install the [PowerPoint add-in](/addin/install) (Windows or macOS desktop).
2. Open the deck you already have.
3. Connect the event in the [task pane](/addin/hosting-from-powerpoint) and host from there.

Google Slides, Pitch, Gamma, Claude, ChatGPT, and Copilot are in progress. Use the app or PowerPoint until those hosts are ready.

  Attendees never install Askplane. A phone or laptop browser plus the code is the whole join.
