An event is one live session: polls, Q&A, and the attendee roster. You build it in the Askplane app. Then you go live from the app, or from the PowerPoint add-in if you want results on the current slide.

Creating an event

1

Open the admin dashboard

Log in at askplane.com/admin with your work email and password.
2

Click New Event

On the events list, click New event. Give it a name you will recognize in the app and in any add-in.
3

Set the organization name (optional but recommended)

Enter the name of the client or organization you’re presenting to. Askplane uses this to apply their logo and color palette to poll results automatically. See On-Brand Polls for details.
4

Add your polls

Click Add Poll to add each question. Choose the poll type, write the question, and add answer options. You can add as many polls as you need: you control which one is open at any time during the session.
5

Configure Q&A

Toggle Q&A enabled on or off for this event. When enabled, attendees can submit questions from their phones throughout the session.
6

Save the event

Click Save. Your event is ready to launch.

Event settings

Shown in the app and in the PowerPoint pane. Use the account name and date so the export is easy to find later.
The client or org you’re presenting to. Askplane retrieves their logo and color palette and applies it to poll results on the slide. AI-generated answer options also use this org’s product names and terminology.
By default, attendees join with their name and work email plus the five-character session code. This is the recommended setting for commercial meetings: it gives you a roster of real work emails you can use for follow-up. Both name and work email are required fields on the join screen.
When on, a question input appears on attendees’ screens throughout the session. Submitted questions go to your moderation queue; nothing appears on the slide until you approve it.

Managing multiple polls in one event

One event can hold as many polls as you need. You open one at a time from the app or the add-in. Close it, then open the next. One roster, one CSV at the end. This lets you run a full sequence (ice-breaker choice poll → quiz → open text → rank) in a single session, with one roster of attendees and one CSV export at the end.

Starting your event

You have two paths to open a live session:

From the app

Open the event and start the session. The room joins from a phone.

From PowerPoint

Same session, hosted from the task pane so results sit on the current slide. Google Slides, Pitch, and Gamma are in progress.

After the event

Session data stays in your account after the event ends:
  • Free plan: data retained for 30 days
  • Paid plan: data retained for 12 months
Export your attendee list, votes, and Q&A any time during the retention window from the event’s detail page in the admin dashboard. Hosts can also download CSV from GET /api/sessions/{id}/export.
Name your events with the account name and date (for example, “Acme Corp: Oct 15”) so exported CSV files are easy to identify when you’re back at your desk.
