How it works
1
Attendee submits a question
At any point during the session, an attendee types a question into the Q&A input on their screen and submits it.
2
Question enters your queue
The question appears in the Q&A tab of your add-in task pane (or the admin dashboard). It is not visible on the slide yet.
3
You review and act
You choose what to do with each question: approve it so the room can see it, pin it so it stays prominent, or hide it to keep it out of view.
4
Approved questions appear on the slide
Approved and pinned questions appear in the Q&A section of the current slide, visible to the whole room.
Enabling Q&A on your event
Q&A is configured per event. When creating or editing an event in askplane.com/admin, toggle Q&A enabled on. It stays on for the entire session: you can’t enable or disable it mid-session.Host controls
Approve
Approve
Makes the question visible on the current slide. Use this for questions that are relevant and worth the room seeing. Approved questions appear in the Q&A section on screen and stay there until the session ends or you hide them.
Pin
Pin
Surfaces the question to the top of the Q&A display and keeps it prominent on the slide. Use this for questions you want to make sure don’t scroll out of view: typically the question you’re about to answer or one that the whole room clearly wants addressed.
Hide
Hide
Removes the question from the slide view. The question is no longer visible to the audience. Use this for off-topic, duplicate, or disruptive submissions. Hidden questions are still recorded and will appear in the CSV export with a “hidden” status label, so you have a complete record.
Why moderate?
Moderation serves two purposes:- Session quality: you decide what the room focuses on, not whoever types fastest
- Complete records: even hidden questions are in the export, so you have a full picture of what the room was thinking
Q&A in the export
Every question submitted during the session appears in the CSV export: including approved, pinned, and hidden questions. Each row includes the question text, the attendee who submitted it, the timestamp, and the status (approved, pinned, or hidden). This means you can review what the room asked without filtering it live. Sales teams use this to spot objections. Enablement teams use it to find the questions that should have been in the curriculum.Q&A and polls share the same session and the same attendee roster. Attendees do not need to do anything extra to participate in Q&A: the input appears automatically on their screen.
